George Lucas Memorial Classic
Learn about our mission and our commitment to supporting
the hockey community in honor of George Lucas.
George was hardworking, resilient, and driven by a true hustle mentality. There are countless words that could describe him, but above all, he was selfless. He made it his priority to ensure no one went without whether that meant giving his son his last dollar or stopping to help someone stranded on the side of the road. George always found a way to make someone’s day a little better.
Through his name and legacy, we strive to carry that same spirit forward lifting others up, supporting our youth, and strengthening the hockey community he loved.

Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to create meaningful change especially for those who may struggle to do so on their own. We are committed to facing every challenge with the same strength and determination that George showed throughout his life.
As the years went on, George battled many health issues, but his resilience never wavered. Inspired by his father’s courage, his son Francis created a plan a vision to honor George’s legacy by building a foundation in his name. Through this foundation, we aim to support charities that truly need it and help children who dream of playing hockey but face barriers.
Whether it’s financial hardship or being told they don’t belong, no child should be left on the sidelines. Hockey is for everyone. Everyone belongs.
Our goal is to launch an annual game that brings our community together year after year. We want to fill the stands and the ice whether it’s a AAA youth team, local families, or your next-door neighbors. This event is for everyone.
Each year, we will choose charities focused on supporting youth helping kids get back into the sports they love or restoring their quality of life when they need it most.
We’re committed to making a difference, and we’re calling on you to join us. Together, we can create opportunities, inspire hope, and make a lasting impact.

On August 2nd, 2025, we came together for something bigger than just a hockey game. That day, we raised over $1,400 for the American Heart Association during a matchup between the Long Island Knights and the Nauti Boyz. The game itself was intense, even going into overtime, where the Knights ultimately came out on top. But the true impact of that day went far beyond the final score. It was about showing support for the family of George Lucas and reminding everyone that hockey is more than just a game it’s a community that comes together in times of need.
This year we plan to make it bigger and better then ever! It will be the Long Island Knights against JFK Customs. This game we will be raising money for the Garrin Hagen Foundation, "supports school, sports and service scholarships and collaborates with athletic programs and community organizations to identify needs, financially assist and promote a “Team First” attitude. The Foundation also supports community-based charities, families in need and first responder-related charitable causes. Our volunteers serve with kindness, compassion, confidence and friendship honoring Gerrin Hagen’s true spirit." - G2H Website
